Vada Pav, which is included in the famous street food of Mumbai, has made its mark everywhere today. Vada Pav, which is served with a layer of chutney and batata vada inside the pav, is a very spicy and tangy snack. You can make it very easily at home and serve it as a special breakfast.
Material:
For Vada:
- 2 large potatoes (boiled and mashed)
- 1/2 cup gram flour (gram flour)
- 2-3 green chillies (finely chopped)
- 1 inch ginger (grated)
- 1/2 tsp mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (as per taste)
- Green Coriander (finely chopped)
- oil for frying
For Pav:
- 4-6 loaves (Hufty Burger Buns)
- 2-3 spoons green chutney
- 2-3 spoons sweet chutney (optional)
- 1/2 cup chutney (optional)
- 1-2 raw green chillies (for garnishing, optional)
Method to make Vada:
Preparing the Mixture:
- Put boiled and mashed potatoes in a vessel.
- Add chopped green chillies, ginger, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and green coriander.
- Mix all the ingredients well and make a uniform mixture.
Making Ball:
- Make small round shaped balls (Vada) from this mixture.
Preparing gram flour batter:
- Prepare a thick batter by mixing gram flour, salt and some water in a vessel.
Fry:
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Dip the potato balls one by one in the gram flour batter and drop into the hot oil.
- Fry the vadas until golden and crisp.
- Place the fried vadas on tissue paper to absorb excess oil.
Preparing Pav:
- Heating the loaf:
- Cut the loaf in half, without separating completely.
- Apply green chutney and sweet chutney inside the pav.
Serving Method:
- Place a fried vada inside the pav.
- Top with raw green chillies (if desired).
- Serve Vada Pav hot.
Tips:
- Serve Vada Pav with chutney or sauce.
- It can be eaten with roasted gram or pheri.
