Actually, Poha is such a food dish which is liked very much by both children and adults. Poha is very popular as a breakfast dish in many states. Poha recipe is made differently in different regions. The taste of Kanda Poha of Maharashtra and Indori Poha of Madhya Pradesh is famous all over the world. Lakhed onion or potato-peanut poha is usually made for breakfast in every home, but have you ever eaten curry poha? Yes, this Tari Poha is a famous breakfast of Nagpur. To make gravy-

  • Soaked desi gram – 1 cup
  • Onion – 2-3
  • Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Chopped tomatoes – 4
  • Asafoetida – 2 pinches
  • Turmeric – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tbsp
  • Chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala – 1 teaspoon
  • Green chilli – 2 to 3
  • Green Coriander – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – as per taste

to make poha

  • Thick Poha – 2 cups
  • Onion – 2 finely chopped
  • Potato- 1 finely chopped
  • Mustard – 1 tbsp
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Curry leaves – 10 to 12
  • Green Coriander – 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric – 1 tbsp
  • Chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar – 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – 1-2 tbsp
  • Fine Sev – 1/2 cup
  • Salt – as per taste

Method:

Method to make Poha:

  1. First of all, wash the poha in water and keep it in a sieve so that the water gets drained.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
  3. When the mustard seeds start crackling, add onion and green chillies and fry until the onion turns golden.
  4. Now add turmeric and salt, then add poha and mix well.
  5. Finally add lemon juice and green coriander and cook it on low flame for 2-3 minutes.

Method to make gravy:

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onion and garlic and fry until golden brown.
  2. Now add ginger-garlic paste to it and fry for a few minutes.
  3. Add tomatoes and cook it until tomatoes become soft.
  4. Now add turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala and coriander powder and mix the spices well.
  5. Add boiled gram in it and prepare gravy by adding some water. Let it cook on medium flame for 10-12 minutes.
  6. When the curry is cooked well, add green coriander to it and turn off the gas.

Serving Method:

  • Put poha in a plate and pour taari (chickpea gravy) over it.
  • Garnish it with green coriander and onion.
  • Serve with lemon.
