The court has said in its notice that your personal data can be stolen through these websites that look like government websites, which can be used by cyber criminals for phishing attacks on you. Cyber criminals are hosting fake websites through WhatsApp or other social media platforms. Many sensitive information including personal information can be hacked through the URLs of these fake websites. Apart from this, the Supreme Court has asked not to click on any such link, as users are prohibited from opening any link found in the name of the Supreme Court. In its advisory, the Supreme Court said that the Supreme Court never asks for personal information, financial information etc. of any user. In such a situation, people should avoid clicking on any such website. The official website of the Supreme Court is www.sci.gov.in. In such a situation, one should not click on any other website.

Even before this, last year, the then Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had also asked people to stay away from fake websites running in the name of Supreme Court. In its notice, the Supreme Court had asked the plaintiff and defendant as well as lawyers to avoid such fake websites. People need to be cautious about the way incidents of online fraud are increasing in India.

Also, do not open any link sent in e-mail, SMS or WhatsApp message by mistake.
