Another great feature is coming to WhatsApp! Now users will be able to create their own AI character, know how it will work

Tech News Desk – WhatsApp is rapidly updating itself and adding new features to the platform to provide convenience to its users. Now a report claims that WhatsApp for Android is working on an Artificial Intelligence (AI) feature that will allow users to create personalized AI characters inside the app. It is being said that this new feature is similar to the AI character creation feature available on Instagram and Messenger. The report claims that users will be able to describe the chatbot's personality details and focus areas with text prompts and the AI can create a profile picture and bio. Apart from this, it is also being said that the app will develop a dedicated tab to show AI characters.

AI characters can come to WhatsApp for Android users
According to WhatsApp's new feature tracker WABetaInfo, the AI character creation feature was spotted in the WhatsApp beta 2.25.1.26 update for Android. Since this feature is still in the development phase, it is not available to beta testers at this time. Additionally, the feature tracker also spotted a separate tab for AI characters in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.24 update. This too is not visible at the moment.

Based on the screenshots shared by the feature tracker, the AI character creation feature seems to be similar to the feature present in Meta's other apps. The feature lets users create new AI characters from scratch or based on an existing template, perhaps using AI Studio. In the screenshots shared, it appears that users can type up to 1,000 characters to specify the features and focus areas of their personalized chatbot.

At the bottom of the screen, WhatsApp has also added some suggestions to help users get inspiration or a starting point for descriptions. While the screenshot only shows the first step (of three), if the process is similar to AI Studio on Instagram or Messenger, these steps will likely include image and bio generation and selecting the AI chatbot's privacy details.

The second screenshot shows that WhatsApp may also provide a dedicated space for these AI characters by creating a new tab. It looks like this tab will show all user-created chatbots as well as all other public AI characters. At the moment, it is not clear whether the AI bots created on WhatsApp will be visible on other meta apps as well.
