Kiran Rao talks openly about her relationship with Aamir Khan's family
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao separated in 2021. After marriage in 2005, they had a relationship for 16 years and then got divorced. Now, Kiran Rao has opened up about divorce, post-relationship friendship, respect and her relationship with Aamir's family.
We separated very easily, because we had reached the point where we were ready for divorce. We tried hard to save our marriage. Then when we decided to get a divorce, it was a very conscious decision. We never fought. We used to have arguments, but we used to resolve it within 12 hours. We also had differences with our parents, Kiran Rao said in an interview.
We knew that even though we were getting a divorce, there was a lot to save in this relationship. We didn't want it all to end. So we did not end the relationship suddenly, we took our time and then decided. Kiran said, we also wanted to ensure that there was no emotional impact on Azad while taking the decision.
Kiran told that even after divorce, love and respect for each other remains. We don't want to be together, but that doesn't mean we don't like or love each other. In any marriage, there are some things that you don't like about your partner. Some things bother you, there are some things that cause fights, but you are married to this person and you also like some things about him. Kiran
Aamir is my friend, he is my mentor in many ways. He is my support system and is always there for me whenever I need him. But there are days when it bothers me. Ultimately it matters what you want to hold on to. Do you want to hold on to the negatives and bad things or hold on to the things that have made your relationship last so long? Kiran said, we focused on the best things in our relationship and with divorce left behind the things we did not like.
Kiran and Aamir's family still lives together happily. Kiran said, his mother is still my mother-in-law and her children (Junaid and Ayra) are my friends and dear ones. ————–
