Material
Chana dal – 1 cup

Urad dal – 2 tbsp

Green chilli- 2

Ginger – 1 piece chopped

Whole Coriander – 1 tsp

Fennel – 1 tsp

Cumin – 1/2 tsp

Bay leaf – 1

Cloves – 2

Asafoetida – 1 pinch

Curry leaves – 15 to 20

Green Coriander – 2 to 3 tbsp

Chili flakes – 1/2 tsp

Salt- 3/4 tsp

Method of preparation
1. Wash 1 cup chana dal and 2 tablespoons urad dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 2 hours.

2. Then add 2 green chillies, 1 ginger, 1 teaspoon whole coriander, 1 teaspoon whole fennel, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/2 inch cinnamon and 2 cloves in the mixer jar. Grind them coarsely.

4. After this, completely remove the water from the lentils and add both the lentils. Save some whole gram lentils and grind them coarsely.

5. Then take it out in a bowl and add remaining whole chana dal, 1/2 pinch of asafoetida, 15 to 20 chopped curry leaves, 2 to 3 tablespoons of finely chopped coriander, 1/2 teaspoon of chilli flakes and 3/4 Add 4 tsp salt. Mix them well, the batter for vada will be ready.

6. Now take some batter, round it, press it and make a vada and keep it on the plate. Prepare all the vadas in the same manner. Now heat oil in the pan, the oil should be medium-high hot and the flame should be medium-high.

7. Put the vadas in hot oil to fry. Fry them until they turn light brown. Once fried, take them out and fry the rest in the same manner.

8.In this way Chana Dal Vada will be ready. Now serve them hot with green or red chutney.
