Buy Rahul and Faf in mega auction
Delhi Capitals have bought Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Both these players have good experience of captaincy in IPL. KL Rahul was leading Lucknow Super Giants, while Faf du Plessis was leading Royal Challengers Bangalore. KL Rahul is also being considered as a contender for the new captaincy of Delhi Capitals, but now an old player of Delhi Capitals seems to be at the forefront in the race for captaincy.

Akshar Patel can become the new captain
Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Delhi Capitals retained Axar Patel for Rs 16.50 crore. Earlier, Akshar was seen leading Delhi Capitals in the absence of the regular captain. According to the report of news agency ANI, “Akshar Patel can be made the new captain of Delhi Capitals. The franchise currently seems to be in no mood to hand over the captaincy to KL Rahul.”

On the other hand, the 5-match T20 series between India and England is going to start from January 22. Akshar Patel has been made the vice-captain of Team India for this T20 series. From here, fans are also speculating that Akshar can now be seen leading Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 also.
