What is 'zero'?

We spoke to Adrian Schmidt, co-founder and CEO of Sarala Aviation, and he told us that it has been designed to travel fast in city areas. It is based on eVTOL technology, which means that it can do vertical take-off as well as landing. It is planned to be launched from Bengaluru by 2028. After there it will also be started in big cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune.
Features of Zero
Speed: 'Zero' is capable of flying at a speed of 250 km/h.
Payload Capacity: It has the capacity to carry 6 passengers and 1 pilot and can lift weight up to 680 kg.
Distance: It is suitable for short distances of 20-30 km, allowing passengers to reach crowded areas quickly.
Fares: Initially the fares will be similar to premium taxi service, but in future there are plans to make it as cheap as auto-rickshaw fares.
Adrian Schmidt, Co-Founder and CEO, Sarala Aviation, said that 'Zero' is not just a technological achievement, but it is an effort to completely change the way urban transport works in India. It will help in enhancing India's economic potential, while solving problems like traffic jams and pollution.

Sarala Aviation recently received Series A1 funding of $10 million, led by Accel. Angel investors like Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal and Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamat have also invested in it. This funding will help in setting up advanced technological development and research centres.

Sarala Aviation is also planning to launch a free air ambulance service in the future, which will provide quick medical care in urban areas and ensure quick response to health crises. Along with this, it can also be used for the army.
