How to cultivate Ashwagandha?

It is cultivated in the month of September-October. For a good crop the soil should be moist and the weather should be dry. If it rains in Rabi season then the crop is good. Organic fertilizers are applied in the field at the time of ploughing. 10-12 kg seeds per hectare are sufficient for sowing. Seeds germinate in 7-8 days. Sandy loam soil and red soil are considered good for its cultivation. Soil with pH between 7.5 and 8 gives good yields. For good growth of plants, 20-35 degree temperature and 500 to 750 mm rainfall is necessary. Ashwagandha plant is harvested from January to March.
