However, there were some players who were seen trying to impress them, knowing their greatness on the field. Former Australia captain Michael Clarke is one of them. During a match in 2004, he tried to make fun of him by calling Sachin, who was batting Sachin, whom Virender Sehwag gave him a befitting reply. At that time Sehwag asked Clarke about his age and said that Sachin has more centuries in ODIs and Tests.
Meanwhile, Michael Clarke was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame at the Sydney Cricket Ground, making him the 64th cricketer to receive the honor. The 12 -year international career of the 43 -year -old former captain was excellent. During this, he played 115 Tests, 245 ODIs and 34 T20 matches and scored more than 17,000 runs.
As captain, Clarke led Australia in 47 Tests, including a 5–0 memorable Ashes series win in 2013-14. He gave the team a historic ODI victory at the home ground in 2015 before retiring. Clarke's batting consists of 28 Test centuries, the sixth most centuries made by an Australian.
During his career, he scored a brilliant 329 runs against India at Sydney Cricket Ground, 151 runs in Bengaluru, 151 runs in Cape Town and 128 runs in Adelaide after the sad death of Philip Hughes. Speaking about the honor, Clarke said, “It is a matter of honor to sit with such great players, ideals, role models and to inspire them as a child.” Retirement does a lot for you.
He further said- Nowadays while watching cricket, you miss some parts. People talk about your international career when you play at the highest level, but for me it started from the age of six. I retired at the age of 34, so this was my life. This is still a part of my life.
He further said- cricket is probably like a normal life. You go on the field and score 100 runs and then lift the bat. Then you go to field, fielding the slip and leave the catch on the second ball of the game.
On this occasion, Chairman of Hall of Fame Peter King said – Michael's extraordinary first -class sports career started from SCG at just 17 years old, this is the place where he made many achievements. It also includes his triple century made in Test cricket against India in 2012. Michael's career will always be remembered by the Australian public and will always be counted among the greatest players.
