Bollywood’s classic film ‘Sholay’ is ready to appear before the audience once again. The 4K restored version of this 1975 film ‘Sholay: The Final Cut’ will be screened in cinema halls across the country from December 12, 2025. Its trailer has been released today.
The trailer made the audience emotional
Old fans were left in tears after watching the trailer, while new viewers were amazed at how a 50-year-old film still feels so impactful and fresh today. Remastered scenes in 4K resolution, Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround sound and new color grading with Gabbar’s famous dialogue ‘Yeh Ramgarh wale apni chhori ko kaun bachayega re?’ Thrilling the audience again.
emotional aspects of the film
Jai-Veeru’s historic entry on the bike, Thakur’s revenge, Basanti’s dance and the samosa scene – everything seems as if it has been filmed just now. An emotional aspect of this re-release is that it is a tribute to late artists Dharmendra and Asrani. His voice and comic timing come to life even more in this 4K version.
director’s dream
Rohan Sippy, son of director Ramesh Sippy, said, ‘My father always said that ‘Sholay’ was the biggest dream of his life. For the 50th anniversary we have used the most advanced restoration techniques. Old negatives have been scanned and each frame has been cleaned by hand. RD Burman’s background score has also been mixed again.
The film was first re-released in 2005 on its 30th anniversary, then a 3D version came out in 2014. Now, on the 50th anniversary, ‘The Final Cut’ is being considered a wonderful gift by fans. Ticket booking has started and the first day shows are already housefull in many multiplexes. The chemistry between Jai and Veeru, Amjad Khan’s menacing Gabbar, and Hema Malini’s stunning Basanti, all remain as fresh even after 50 years.
