How to manage screen time for eye health
Eye protection from screen effects
The biggest impact of spending more time on computer and mobile screens is on our eyes. Therefore, it is necessary to give them rest.
When you are working on a computer, try to have a distance of at least one meter between your eyes and the screen. If this is not possible, maintain a distance of at least one and a half to two feet. The upper part of the screen should be at your eye level, so that there is no pressure on your neck and waist.
Don’t look at the screen continuously. It is important to blink the eyes, otherwise dryness or strain may occur in the eyes.
If you wear glasses, make sure you wear them correctly and get your glasses checked regularly. Putting rose water in the eyes once or twice a day can also be beneficial. Soaking a cotton swab in rose water and placing it on the eyes provides relief.
Follow the 20-20 rule to rest your eyes. After focusing on the screen for 20 minutes, look away for 20 seconds and focus on an object 20 feet away.
Give a 3-5 minute break to your eyes every hour during work. Focusing on nearby things puts more strain on the eyes, so it is necessary to focus on distant things every now and then. Open and close the eyes quickly, repeat this process 15 to 20 times.
