During the winter season, most people often complain of cold, fever and cough. This mostly happens due to weak immune system. Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev often shares his daily routine, health and fitness tips on social media. In a recent video, he explained a way to strengthen the immune system during the winter season. In the video, he explains how Amla can be beneficial in winters.
1. Sadhguru says to take a small Amla. Nowadays hybrid Amla are available in the market, you can use them also, but small, traditional Amla is the best. Crush the gooseberry and then add salt to it and suck it. Amla juice should remain in your mouth for as long as possible.
2. The second method which he has mentioned is to drink hot water four to five times a day. If you want, you can also add some coriander leaves, turmeric and lemon juice to hot water.
How does Amla increase immunity?
Amla is very effective in boosting immunity as it is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, which strengthen white blood cells, help fight infections and protect the body from oxidative stress. The polyphenols, flavonoids and tannins present in it also provide antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which help protect the body from diseases, thus keeping you safe from cold, cough and other infections.
How effective is turmeric?
Turmeric contains a powerful antioxidant called curcumin, which also has anti-inflammatory properties. It strengthens immune cells (such as T-cells and B-cells), helps fight bacteria and viruses, and also helps reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body.
