Importance of milk and right time for children

New Delhi: Consumption of milk in winter is considered beneficial for people of all ages. In this season, jaggery, dates and saffron are also consumed along with milk. However, special attention is given to feeding milk to children, because their age increases rapidly and during this time milk is necessary to strengthen the muscles and bones. But should every child drink milk daily?

Every child’s digestive capacity is different. Therefore, do not force them to drink milk, first understand their digestion. According to Ayurveda, drinking the right milk, in the right quantity and at the right time, provides proper nutrition. Let us know why milk is important.

In the growing stage of children, milk is essential for strengthening muscles, strengthening bones, increasing height and strengthening teeth. But milk consumption is not the same for children every day. Children’s digestive power can get affected quickly, so it is not necessary to feed milk daily.

Now the question is when milk should not be given to children. If children have problems like frequent cough, flatulence, gas formation, stomach upset or loss of appetite, then they should not be given milk. These symptoms are a sign that children are having difficulty digesting milk. The digestive power of children is weaker than that of adults and the stomach has to work harder to digest milk. It takes at least 2-3 hours to digest milk. In such a situation, do not give milk to children.

Now it is also important to know how to give milk to children. First of all, always give warm milk to children. Hot milk reduces the problem of gas and bloating in the stomach and also keeps the body warm in winter. Second, do not give milk to children at night. The body is unable to do any activity at night, due to which there may be difficulty in digesting milk. Third, do not give empty milk to children. Mix saffron, turmeric or dry ginger in milk, this will help children digest milk.
