Every year, many films are released in Bollywood, from which the industry has high expectations. However, despite huge budgets, famous stars and vigorous promotion, many films fail to bring audiences to the theatres. The year 2025 was no different in this regard. This year, many popular films failed miserably at the box office and could not even recover their costs.


Film ‘Fateh’ fails at box office

There were a lot of expectations from the film ‘Fateh’ directed by Sonu Sood, but it could not survive at the box office. Made on a budget of around Rs 30 crore, the film was released on January 10, 2025, but its total earning was only around Rs 17 crore.

Kangana’s ‘Emergency’ was also a flop

Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ also failed to impress the audience. The film, with a budget of Rs 60 crore, was released on January 17, but could earn only Rs 17 crore at the domestic box office, while its global collection stood at Rs 22.5 crore.

Disappointing earnings of film ‘Azad’

The film ‘Azaad’, released on the same day, in which Ajay Devgan’s nephew Aman Devgan and Rasha Thadani debuted, became one of the biggest flops of the year. Made at a cost of around Rs 80 crore, the film failed to attract audiences and grossed less than Rs 10 crore.


‘Deva’ promotion ineffective

Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Deva’, released on January 31, was promoted on a large scale, but its effect was not visible at the ticket window. Made on a budget of Rs 55 crore, the film did a business of around Rs 35 crore.

‘Lavyapaa’ also remained away from the audience

Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan’s film ‘Loveyapa’ also could not catch the attention of the audience. This film with a budget of Rs 50 crore was released in Hindi as well as Tamil, but its total earning was limited to Rs 10-12 crore.

‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ flopped

Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh’s ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’, which released on February 21, also proved to be a flop. Against the budget of Rs 60 crore, the film could earn only Rs 11.8 crore.

Rajkumar Rao’s ‘Maalik’ also remained weak

Rajkummar Rao’s film ‘Maalik’, released in July, also became one of the weak films of his career. The film, which cost Rs 54 crore, earned only around Rs 28 crore worldwide.


Disappointment of ‘Son of Sardar 2’

Apart from this, Ajay Devgan’s ‘Son of Sardar 2’ also did not live up to the expectations. Despite a budget of Rs 130 crore, the film grossed less than Rs 45 crore. Along with this, ‘Dhadak 2’ also released, could reach only Rs 25 crore in the budget of Rs 60 crore.
