The teaser that created a stir in China

Mumbai: There has been a stir in China as soon as the teaser of famous Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s new film ‘Battle of Galwan’ was released. This teaser has been released on Salman’s 60th birthday on 27 December 2025 and is based on the Galwan Valley clash that took place in 2020. In the film, Salman is playing the character of Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who was martyred in this conflict. However, China’s government newspaper Global Times has strongly criticized this film.

China’s reaction

Why did China get upset with Salman Khan’s ‘Battle of Galwan’?

An article published in Global Times states that the film is misrepresenting the facts. The article quoted Chinese experts as saying that Bollywood films are only based on entertainment and emotional stories, but no film can change history nor challenge the territorial sovereignty of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Displeasure of Chinese citizens

The newspaper also claimed that Galwan Valley is in China’s border and the 2020 clash was due to India’s provocation. Many Chinese citizens have expressed their displeasure after seeing the teaser of the film. Some users on social media have called it ‘over-the-top’ and exaggerated. Some mocked Salman’s character by calling him an ‘invincible hero’. Interestingly, Salman Khan is quite popular in China, and his film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ did well there.
