5 ways to get relief from hangover after New Year

New Year’s Eve Celebration and Hangover

Everyone is ready to celebrate the New Year, but everyone has a different way of celebrating. Generally, New Year is characterized by music, parties with friends and late night fun. However, this celebration can be followed by problems like headache, fatigue, confusion, nausea and weakness the next morning, which we call a hangover.

According to doctors, the most effective cure for a hangover is time and its symptoms can last up to 24 hours. But by adopting some simple measures you can make yourself feel better. Let us know how to get rid of hangover.

1. Drink plenty of water and juice

Drinking alcohol causes dehydration in the body, which is a major cause of hangover. Therefore, fill a water bottle as soon as you wake up in the morning and keep drinking water at regular intervals. Coconut water, lemon water or fresh fruit juice can also be beneficial. Keep in mind, it is not right to drink alcohol again to get relief from hangover, it can make your health worse.

2. Eat light and simple food

The stomach becomes sensitive during a hangover. In such a situation, heavy and spicy food can be harmful. Light foods like toast, biscuits, khichdi or crackers help balance blood sugar levels. Vegetable soup can also replace lost salt and potassium in the body.

3. Be careful while taking pain killer medicines

If headaches or body aches are severe, over-the-counter painkillers may provide some relief. But use them wisely. Aspirin and ibuprofen can increase stomach irritation, especially when the body is already under the influence of alcohol. Taking paracetamol with or shortly after alcohol can cause serious liver damage.

4. Get some sleep again

Sleep is the best treatment for the body. If possible, rest yourself and get enough sleep the day after the New Year’s party. Deep sleep gives the body time to recover and hangover symptoms can gradually subside. Many times when you wake up again, the headache and fatigue have largely disappeared.

5. Give yourself time

It is important to understand that hangover is not a problem that can be cured in one go. The body needs time to heal itself. Therefore, do not put too much pressure on yourself, postpone work or responsibilities a little and understand the signals of the body.
