Haryana government promises to keep a close watch on drug prices

Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said that the state government is fully committed to providing affordable and essential medicines to the general public. Under this objective, the prices of medicines are being closely monitored across the state so that complaints of overcharging are not received anywhere.
Role of Price Monitoring and Resource Unit
The Minister informed that as per the guidelines of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Price Monitoring and Resource Unit is actively functioning in Haryana under the Food and Drug Administration Department. It is being ensured that medicines are available to the citizens only at prescribed government rates, especially life saving medicines remain within the reach of common people.

The Health Minister said that the aim of the government is to protect the health and interests of the people, hence pharmaceutical companies and sellers are being constantly monitored.

Aarti Singh Rao requested the citizens to get information about the correct price of medicines through ‘Pharma Sahi Daam’ mobile app. If overcharging is found, patients or their family members can lodge a complaint directly. For this, PMRU Haryana’s toll-free number 1800-180-2413 is also available.
