Simple method of making sesame-jaggery sweets on Makar Sankranti

The festival of Makar Sankranti holds special significance in Hindu religion. There is a tradition of celebrating it with different names in different regions of India. Sesame seeds are especially consumed on this occasion. In North India, there is a tradition of making laddus and patti from sesame and jaggery. If you want to do something new this year, you can make a delicious dessert by mixing milk with sesame seeds and jaggery. Here is an easy recipe for making sesame-jaggery sweets.

Essential ingredients for sesame-jaggery sweets

– 1 cup white sesame seeds

– 1 cup jaggery

– 1 liter milk

– chopped pistachios

Method of making sesame-jaggery sweets

– First of all wash the white sesame seeds thoroughly and dry them. If you cannot wash it, then wipe it with a wet cloth and dry it in the fan air.

– After drying, put the sesame seeds in a pan and dry roast them.

– When the sesame seeds start giving off a nice aroma, turn off the gas and take the sesame seeds out in a plate and let them cool.

When it cools down, grind the sesame seeds into powder or grind them coarsely.

Now put milk in the pan, heat it on gas and cook it.

– Thicken the milk on low flame so that it can bind.

– When the milk starts thickening, add jaggery to it and mix.

– Keep in mind that the gas flame should be low and cut the jaggery into small pieces and add it to the milk.

Then mix it well and dry it.

When the milk thickens, add roasted sesame powder to it and keep stirring.

– Then place parchment paper or butter paper on a flat surface.

– Apply a little ghee on top and make it smooth.

– Now add the prepared sesame and khoya mixture and make it smooth by rolling it with a rolling pin.

– Finally, remove the paper or polythene and cut it into desired shapes.

– Your tasty sesame jaggery barfi is ready.
