Morning temperatures were recorded below 5 degrees Celsius in many states including Delhi-NCR, Punjab and Rajasthan. Cold wave alert has been issued for the next three days in eight states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Assam.

Temperature below zero in Rajasthan

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature has dropped below zero at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The temperature was recorded at -2 degree in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan and -1 degree Celsius in Barmer. Bathinda in Punjab was the coldest at 1.6 degrees. The temperature in Hisar in Haryana was 2.2 degrees.


Cold havoc in Himachal and Uttarakhand

Snowfall is occurring on the high peaks in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while life in the plains is being affected by cold. The temperature is below zero at many places and the minimum temperature is being recorded around 4 degrees at most places.

Traffic affected due to fog

Due to fog, road, rail and air traffic is being affected in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Vehicles are moving slowly on the roads and many trains are running hours behind schedule. Apart from this, air traffic is also being disrupted due to fog.
