According to the report of South China Morning Post, a woman named Wu from Xi’an in Shaanxi province had bought this ‘love insurance’ for about Rs 2500. Her husband told that when he came to know about this policy, he felt that his wife had been cheated.

Claim after 10 years

The woman had bought this policy in 2016 for 199 yuan (about Rs 2500). Now, after the marriage, she filed a claim and the couple chose to take cash payment instead of Rs 10,000. The woman told that she had received approximately Rs 125,000.

Wu and her partner registered their marriage in 2025, after which they received this payment. Wu met her husband Wang in middle school and began dating in 2015 after attending the same university.

Wang said that initially he was skeptical about this policy. The standard price of the policy was 299 yuan (about $42) and was issued by China Life Property and Casualty Insurance Company.

If the policy holder marries his/her partner, he/she is entitled to a cash payout of Rs 10,000 or a 0.5-carat heart-shaped ring.
