Safe Non-Stick Pan Care Tips
Increasing use of non-stick pans
Nowadays, the use of non-stick pan is increasing in every household. People are now choosing non-stick pans instead of iron pans for making rotis. Apart from this, breakfast dishes like cheela, dosa and uttapam are also being prepared on this pan. If you are using a non-stick pan regularly, you need to wash it the right way. If the pan is not cleaned properly, its coating may deteriorate, which can be harmful to health. In this article, we will tell you the correct ways to wash a non-stick pan.
Do not use steel scrubbers or rough sponges
Many people use steel wool or a hard scrubber to keep a new pan clean. They feel that it is important to keep the utensils clean. But note that rubbing a non-stick pan with a hard scrub spoils its coating. If you do this every day, the coating of the pan will deteriorate and the food will start sticking.
– What to do: Always use a soft sponge or cloth.
Avoid washing with very hot water
Some people wash the non-stick pan with very hot water, so that the oil gets cleaned easily. But this method is also wrong, because extremely hot water can damage the coating of the pan. This may also discolor the pan. When you make cheela, it will enter your body, which is not good for health. Washing in lukewarm water will not cause any problem.
Do not keep a wet pan on gas.
Many people put the non-stick pan on gas immediately after washing it. This causes sudden changes in temperature, which can damage the coating. In 3 to 4 months, you will notice that the cheela is not getting cooked on the pan and it has started bursting. Therefore, always use the pan only after drying it. First dry the pan thoroughly, then keep it on low flame and then cook.
