Aakriti Goyal shared her experience on social media, in which she told that she had given up eating roti and rice about a decade ago. Aakriti, who was earlier an engineer, later decided to study medicine. She secured All India Rank 1118 in NEET exam and is currently pursuing MBBS from Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi.
According to Akriti, there has been neither roti nor rice in her daily diet for the last ten years. Although she eats them sometimes, there is usually no flour and rice in her house. For the last two years, she has replaced roti with cheela made from moong dal or other pulses in every meal, which she eats with vegetables. He says that this change has improved his digestive power and he remains energetic throughout the day.

Aakriti also does strength training regularly about five days a week. She says that her activity and energy is more than that of many 20-year-old students of her MBBS batch. Due to constant exercise and balanced diet, he never experienced weakness. The main reason for staying away from roti and rice is the history of diabetes in his family. Aakriti says that she does not want to become a victim of this disease, so she is already taking precautions.

Aakriti has got many benefits by including lentil cheela in her diet. It does not cause drowsiness after eating, it is easily digested and has more protein and lower glycemic index than wheat and rice, due to which blood sugar does not increase rapidly.
Finally, Aakriti clarifies that she does not advise anyone to give up roti or rice completely. But people who have diabetes or have a history of it in their family should be cautious about their diet and lifestyle.
