Useful tips for money plant care in winter
Money plant care in winter
New Delhi: Money plant, which is most loved in homes, is considered a symbol of good luck and positivity. This plant can survive even with less care, but in winter the effect of cold becomes visible on its leaves quickly.
The growth of money plant slows down due to drop in temperature in winter. If proper care is not taken, its leaves may become yellow and weak. This problem can be avoided by some simple measures.
Right way to water in winter
Over-watering the money plant during cold weather can be harmful. The soil should be kept slightly moist, but not allowed to become soggy. Check the surface of the soil with your finger before watering. Water only if the top layer is dry. Avoid pouring cold water, use only normal temperature water.
balance of sunlight and light
Money plant requires adequate light in winter. Keep it in a place where it can get light morning sunlight or natural light. It is necessary to protect from strong cold wind and direct fog. Keeping them in too little light can cause the leaves to wither and their color to fade.
regular cleaning of leaves
In winter, due to accumulation of dust, the leaves of the money plant are unable to breathe. Clean the leaves gently with a wet cloth once a week. This will keep the leaves shiny and the plant will look healthy. This method also helps in improving photosynthesis.
Increase greenery with light fertilizer
Avoid giving heavy fertilizer in winter. Giving light organic fertilizer or vermicompost once a month is sufficient. If you want, you can also give it by mixing a little liquid fertilizer in water. This provides the plant with essential nutrients and the leaves remain green.
Take care of temperature and location
Do not keep the money plant in a very cold place. If the temperature drops too low, bring it indoors. Protect the plant from direct exposure to AC, heater or cold air. Money plant grows well even in winter when it gets the right temperature.
