Musician AR Rahman, in a recent interview, expressed his deep loyalty to India while responding to the criticism over his comments. Amid the ongoing bias debate in Bollywood, Rahman clarified his views. In his video, he shared footage of his song ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam/Vande Mataram’ sung during a cricket match, which shows his cultural contribution. Describing India as his inspiration and home, Rahman emphasized the unifying role of music.

He said that music has always been a medium to connect with and celebrate their culture. Rahman also said that sometimes his intentions may be misunderstood, but his aim has always been to uplift and serve through music. He cited examples of his efforts to celebrate India’s diversity, including promoting ‘Jhala’ at the Waves Summit and collaboration with young Naga musicians.

Rehman expressed pride in being Indian, saying that it helps him create a platform where freedom of expression and multicultural voices are respected. He mentioned his various artistic projects, such as establishing a string orchestra and working with Hans Zimmer on the music of the Ramayana.
