Shahid Kapoor’s ‘O Romeo’ creates a stir at the box office
The film did wonders in its fifth day’s earnings.
Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor’s latest film ‘O Romeo’ has performed brilliantly at the box office on its fifth day. This romantic action thriller film was released on Valentine’s weekend and is now earning rapidly. On Tuesday, the film performed well and collected around Rs 5 crore to Rs 5.1 crore nett. Thus, the total net collection of the film has crossed Rs 40 crore in India.
Earnings increased again on Tuesday
This is a significant achievement for Shahid Kapoor, as the film has broken many of his previous records. The film opened with Rs 8.5 crore on Friday. Due to Valentine’s Day, there was a huge jump in the collection on Saturday, which reached Rs 12.65 crore. On Sunday also the film collected Rs 9 crore. However, due to Monday being a weekday, the collection declined, which stood between Rs 4.75-4.85 crore. But growth was seen again on Tuesday, resulting in a net collection of Rs 40 crore in 5 days.
‘O Romeo’ left behind two old films
According to India Gross, the film has earned Rs 47.2 crore, while the overseas collection has been Rs 15.3 crore. Thus, the worldwide total earning has now reached close to Rs 62.5 crore. This figure is quite impressive for the film, especially considering the support it is getting from the audience despite mixed reviews. ‘O Romeo’ has crossed the lifetime collection of Shahid Kapoor’s two previous films ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’ (36.37 crores) and ‘Badmaash Company’ (34.98 crores).
Romantic thriller with gangster background
Now this film has been included in Shahid’s top 10 highest grossing films. In some reports, it is being described as his 7th or 10th biggest film. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film stars Trupti Dimri in the lead role alongside Shahid Kapoor. The film also includes actors like Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwari, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani. It is a romantic thriller with a gangster background, which is inspired by Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’.

The film had earned more than Rs 30 crore in the first weekend, which is a good response for Shahid. If this trend continues in the second weekend, the Rs 50 crore club can be easily crossed. Fans and trade experts are considering this as Shahid’s solid comeback. Overall, ‘O Romeo’ is in a strong position at the box office and is expected to earn well in future too.
