BAFTA Film Awards organized
Mumbai: The BAFTA Film Awards, also known as the ‘British Oscars’, is a major ceremony in the fields of film, TV and games. The event is organized by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), which honors UK and international talent. This year’s 79th BAFTA Film Awards will be held on 22 February 2026 at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

This time, Scottish actor and ‘The Traitors’ host Alan Cumming will host the ceremony for the first time. Alan Cumming is a multi-talented actor who previously hosted the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards. The ceremony will be broadcast in the UK on BBC One and iPlayer at 7pm GMT. In the US it was broadcast on E! Can be seen on the channel and BritBox. Other major films like ‘Sentimental Value’, ‘Frankenstein’ are also strong contenders.
The films nominated in the Best Picture category are: Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, Sentimental Value and Sinners. The lead actors include big names like Leonardo DiCaprio (“One Battle After Another”), while the lead actresses include Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet”). The special thing for the Indian audience this year is that Bollywood star Alia Bhatt will attend BAFTA 2026 as a presenter. She will come on stage to give the award.
