Mumbai: BAFTA Award winning Manipuri film ‘Boong’ is now going to hit the theaters once again. Farhan Akhtar has announced its re-release date, due to which there is a lot of excitement among the audience. The film, which is emotional and inspirational, has brought glory to India by winning the BAFTA Award in the Best Children and Family Film category.

It is the first Indian film to receive this honor at BAFTA. It achieved this feat at the 79th BAFTA Awards on 22 February 2026 in London. The film faced tough competition from major Hollywood films like Lilo & Stitch, Zootopia 2 and the French animated film Arco, but ‘Boong’ created history by leaving everyone behind.

The story of the film revolves around a young child and his single mother in Manipur, who are dealing with the sudden disappearance of their father. The story offers a beautiful glimpse of innocence, family love, strength and hope that is sure to resonate with audiences of all ages. This is the debut film of director Lakshmipriya Devi, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.
