Sunny Deol’s film streaming on OTT on March 20

Border 2 arrives on OTT

Mumbai: The first major hit of 2026 ‘Border 2’ is now all set to move from theaters to OTT platform. Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty have played lead roles in this war drama. The film has grossed Rs 449-463 crore globally after its release on 23 January 2026. Netflix has purchased its digital rights, and it will begin streaming on March 20, 2026.

Availability of ‘Border 2’ on Netflix

According to Netflix India’s catalog and various media reports, the film will be available to audiences from March 20. This is almost two months after its theatrical release, which is a common trend for Bollywood films. Although initial reports mentioned the first week of March, the official date now seems to be March 20.

Story based on 1971 war

The film is directed by Anurag Singh and is based on the India-Pakistan War of 1971, specifically the Battle of Basantar and Operation Changez. Sunny Deol plays the role of Colonel Fateh Singh Kaler, an officer of the 6th Sikh Regiment. They train Varun Dhawan (Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya), Diljit Dosanjh (Flying Officer Nirmal Jeet Singh Sekhon) and Ahan Shetty (Mahendra S Rawat). The friendship of these three is the emotional center of the film, and when Pakistan attacks, they put their duties above personal lives.

Theme of the film: Patriotism and friendship

A connection to the original ‘Border’ is shown at the end of the film, which mentions the death of 2nd Lieutenant Dharamveer Bhakri (Akshaye Khanna) and Assistant Commandant Bhairon Singh Rathore (Suniel Shetty). Other cast includes Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh and Paramveer Singh Cheema. The film has themes of patriotism, friendship and sacrifice, which deeply impacts the audience.

Focus on film release

It is worth noting that the film was not released in theaters in the Gulf countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE) due to its ‘anti-Pakistan’ content. But through streaming on Netflix, it will also be available in countries like UAE and Pakistan, where its popularity is likely to increase. Fans will now be able to enjoy this action-packed war drama in their homes. It will emerge as one of the biggest OTT releases of 2026.
