morning nasal congestion

New Delhi: Many people face symptoms like blocked nose, sneezing and heaviness in the head as soon as they wake up in the morning. Often it is ignored considering it to be a common cold or due to change in weather, but it can also be a chronic cold. Chronic cold is a common but troublesome problem, which if worsened can lead to bone growth in the sinuses or nose.

According to Ayurveda, chronic cold is associated with Kapha dosha. When the amount of phlegm in the body increases, it starts accumulating in the nose and head. This problem is not felt at night, but as soon as you wake up in the morning, you feel blocked nose and also feel slight cold. Wrong eating habits and cold things can aggravate this condition. There is a solution to this problem in Ayurveda, which you can do at home.

There can be many reasons behind this problem, like staying awake late at night, excessive consumption of cold water or things kept in the refrigerator, living in dust and pollution, weak immune system, and frequent infections. According to Ayurveda, simple remedies like basil, ginger, and hot water can be helpful to get relief from these problems. Pranayama and proper daily routine also play an important role in improving this problem. It is possible to gradually improve this problem by making small changes.

Start your morning with warm water. It helps in melting and expelling phlegm. Taking steam twice a week is also beneficial, as it reduces obstruction in breathing. Apart from this, turmeric milk, basil-ginger tea, applying lukewarm oil in the nose, light dinner, and avoiding cold things should be avoided at night. All these measures will be helpful in preventing the increase of phlegm in the body, which will reduce the problem of nasal congestion in the morning.
