New initiative to modernize bus stops in Delhi
New initiative of bus service in Delhi
Bus service in Delhi is essential for millions of people, but passengers often face lack of correct information. A new initiative is being planned to solve this problem.
The transport department has proposed to develop such bus stops in the city, where information like routes, timings and crowd status of buses will be instantly available to the passengers.
Special equipment will be installed at these bus stops, which will provide information through voice. Passengers will be able to get the information they need at the press of a button.
The main objective of this system is to improve the experience of passengers. Currently, people often rely on bystanders or conductors for bus information, leading to the problem of boarding the wrong bus.
The scheme will initially be implemented as a pilot project at around 10 locations in the city, which may include New Delhi and areas around the High Court.
The plan to modernize the bus stop was long pending. Earlier also efforts were made in this direction, but due to lack of interest in the tenders the work could not progress.
Now the government is planning to implement this project under the public-private partnership model. Under this, companies will construct and maintain bus stops and recover their costs through advertisements.
Under this new system, passengers will be able to get direct information about any bus route. For example, if someone has to go from one place to another, he can listen to the information about the concerned bus, its route and stops by pressing a button.
Passengers will also be able to get information like bus arrival time, crowd status and fare, making the journey even simpler. This system is also considered useful for tourism, due to which people coming from outside will also be able to easily avail the bus service.
While waiting at the bus stop, information related to nearby historical and major sites can also be provided, which will provide additional convenience to the passengers.
Experts believe that if this plan is successful, significant changes may be seen in Delhi’s public transport system.
