Mumbai: The National Commission for Women has recently sent summons to Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt and the makers of the song ‘Sarke Chunari Teri Sarke’. The song has come into controversy as its lyrics and video are said to be obscene and full of sexual innuendo.
Promotional track of the song and protest on social media
The song is a promotional track for the Kannada film ‘KD: The Devil’, starring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles. After its release, there was huge protest on social media, where people called it against the dignity of women and harmful for children. Due to this, several complaints were filed, after which NCW took cognizance of the matter.
NCW summons and warns of legal action
NCW said in a statement that the song contains objectionable sexual content, which violates the Indian Justice Code, IT Act and POCSO Act. The Commission has appointed Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt, lyricist Raqib Alam, producer Venkat K. Summons have been sent to Narayan and director Kiran Kumar. They have to appear before the Commission on March 24, 2026 at 12:30 pm and bring the necessary documents. If they do not appear, legal action can be taken.
Government’s stance on freedom of expression
Earlier, the central government had also banned the song. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav clarified in the Lok Sabha that the song has been banned. He said that there are reasonable restrictions on freedom of expression by the Constitution and protection of women and children is necessary. This information was given in response to the question of Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadauria.
Nora Fatehi’s clarification
After the release of the song, it was removed from YouTube and other platforms. The NHRC and other women’s commissions had also issued notices to the CBFC and concerned ministries. Nora Fatehi, while clarifying on the controversy, said that she had shot the song in the Kannada version three years ago. He was not aware of the lyrics and dubbing of the Hindi version and did not allow it.
She also said that she does not support obscenity. This matter points towards the increasing controversial content in Bollywood. Many celebs have also criticized the song on social media. Now the investigation is going on and all the parties will have to present their side.
