Scientific reasons and tips to lose weight
Reasons for difficulty losing weight
New Delhi: Nowadays increasing weight has become a serious problem. People go to the gym to stay fit, adopt diet plans and take various measures, yet many times the weight does not reduce. In this situation people get disappointed and give up their efforts. Scientific research gives many reasons behind this.
According to scientific studies, if a person does not get enough sleep daily, the ghrelin and leptin hormones in his body are affected, which signal hunger and fullness. Lack of sleep increases appetite, causing a person to overeat. In addition, the levels of the stress hormone cortisol also increase, which accelerates the process of fat accumulation. Therefore, experts recommend that every person should get at least 7 to 8 hours of good sleep.
Another important reason is lack of water in the body. Many people drink very little water throughout the day, which has a direct impact on their metabolism. According to research, drinking enough water increases the body’s ability to burn calories and also controls appetite. Water helps in removing toxic elements from the body and improves digestion. Lack of water makes the body sluggish, which can slow down the weight loss process.
The third reason is mental stress. Today stress has become a common problem, but very few people know that it has a direct relation with weight. When a person is under stress, the level of cortisol hormone increases, which causes fat to accumulate around the abdomen. Due to stress, people start eating more emotionally, which is called emotional eating in medical language. Therefore, it is necessary to resort to meditation, yoga or favorite activities to reduce stress.
The fourth reason is lack of balanced nutrition. Many times people start eating too little or ignore essential nutrients in an attempt to lose weight, which is wrong. The body requires the right amount of protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Protein strengthens muscles and controls appetite, while fiber improves digestion and keeps you full for longer. If there is a lack of these nutrients in the diet, the body starts saving energy and it becomes difficult to lose weight.
Another important reason is lack of physical activity. Just controlling diet does not help in losing weight, but keeping the body active is equally important. According to research, people who do physical activity have better metabolism and are able to burn more calories. At least 30 minutes of exercise daily like brisk walking, yoga or cycling can prove to be very helpful in weight loss.
