How to take care of plants in summer in a smart way
summer plant care
Plants not only enhance the beauty of our homes, but they also purify the air. If you keep your plants indoors, on the balcony or terrace, you don’t need to spend on an air purifier. However, for this it is necessary to take proper care of the plants. It is very important to take care of plants in summer to keep them green and healthy.
Due to the strong summer sun and high temperatures, plants often start drying up, roots start rotting and leaves turn yellow. Taking care of plants during this season can be challenging. But there are some natural fertilizers that can keep plants healthy even in summer. If you want to keep your plants green this season, use these fertilizers and sprays that you can easily make at home.
banana peel fertilizer
Banana peels contain high amounts of potassium, which helps in the growth of plants and the formation of flowers and fruits. To make this fertilizer, cut banana peels into small pieces and soak them in water for 2-3 days. Then pour this water into the plants. It promotes plant growth in summer and also improves soil fertility.
rice water spray
Rice water contains light nutrients and starch, which are beneficial for plants. Filling the water left after washing rice in a spray bottle and sprinkling it on leaves or in the soil improves plant growth. This water also helps in maintaining moisture in summer.
spray made from neem leaves
Neem has natural insecticidal properties, which protect plants from insects in summer. Boil neem leaves in water, then when it cools down, filter it and fill it in a spray bottle. Using this spray 1-2 times a week reduces the effect of pests and keeps the plants healthy.
Buttermilk Spray
Buttermilk contains good bacteria, which help in keeping plants healthy. Mixing it in water in the ratio of 1:3 and spraying it on the leaves prevents fungal infections and provides coolness to the plants.
‘Compost Tea’ Manure
‘Compost tea’ can be prepared by soaking the compost made from kitchen waste in water for 24 to 48 hours. Filtering this liquid fertilizer and pouring it on the roots of the plants or spraying it on the leaves helps in maintaining their growth even in summer and provides quick nutrition to the plants.
