Bombay High Court refuses to give marriage status to Rajesh Khanna and Anita Advani’s relationship.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has rejected Anita’s plea to give the legal status of marriage to the relationship between late actor Rajesh Khanna and Anita Advani. Anita had filed a petition in the court, in which she demanded recognition of her and Rajesh Khanna’s relationship as marriage. After hearing both the parties on Wednesday, the High Court rejected the petition and upheld the earlier decision of the Dindoshi Sessions Court.

History of legal dispute

This case has been in controversy since the death of Rajesh Khanna in 2012. There is a legal battle going on between his family and Anita Advani. Anita had filed a civil suit in the Dindoshi Sessions Court, which was dismissed by the court in 2017 due to technical reasons. Recently, on April 1, this case was heard in the High Court.

The bench of Justice Sharmila Deshmukh, after hearing the arguments of both the sides, clearly said that the appeal is dismissed. However, detailed order in this case has not been issued yet. During the hearing, the court also heard the side presented by Dimple Kapadia, Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar.


Anita Advani’s claim

Anita Advani said that she was in a long-term relationship with Rajesh Khanna and considered it like marriage. She alleged that she was thrown out of her famous bungalow Ashirwad after the death of Rajesh Khanna. Anita also claimed that she was in a live-in relationship with Rajesh Khanna and they got married secretly without telling anyone. Anita has worked in many films in the 80s and has also been a part of Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss 7.
