Ancient Yoga Techniques for Heat Relief
New Delhi: When the sun’s heat is at its peak, the scorching heat and scorching heat affects people’s lives. People are forced to live in air-conditioned rooms to escape the heat. But experts believe that always relying on artificial cooling is neither practical nor beneficial for health. In such a situation, the ancient Indian science of yoga presents a solution by which we can control body temperature through our breathing. Rhea Vyas, founder and yoga expert of Delhi’s ‘Unalom Yoga and Wellness Studio’, has stressed the importance of ‘Sheetali Pranayama’ to avoid the heat.
Sheetali Pranayama: A Natural Air-Conditioner
According to Riya Vyas, Sheetali Pranayama is not just a respiratory exercise, but it is a natural air-conditioning system for our body. Riya calls it ‘inner air-conditioner’. This technique not only reduces body temperature instantly, but also deeply calms our nervous system. This exercise is very effective in eliminating common problems that occur during summer, such as irritability and mental restlessness. When the body starts feeling tired and burdened due to heat, then some of its chakras balance the energy and revive the body.
Method of doing Sheetali Pranayam
Learn the right technique: ‘cool wave’ will come from the tube of the tongue
The method of this pranayam is simple and effective. First of all, take out your tongue and fold it like a tube. Now slowly inhale deeply through this bent tongue. While breathing, you will feel that a cold air, which Riya calls ‘cold wave’, is entering your body through the tongue. After this, close the mouth and exhale slowly through the nose. While exhaling, feel that all the heat and stale energy of the body is coming out. For better results, Riya Vyas recommends doing this exercise 10 to 15 times daily on an empty stomach.

The benefits of Shitali Pranayama are not limited to just coolness. According to Riya, it is especially beneficial for those who feel excessive sweating, fatigue and lack of energy in summer. It strengthens the digestive system, reduces stomach problems like acidity and helps in resetting the nervous system by calming anxiety. This is a great and natural way to get your body back to normal after exercise or after returning home from a sunny day.
