Mumbai: Satish Kaushik, a unique actor of Indian cinema, is recognized less by his name and more by the characters he plays. Satish Kaushik was born on 13 April 1956 in Mahendragarh, Haryana. He had a deep passion for acting since childhood. He completed his studies from Kirori Mal College, Delhi and then learned the nuances of acting from the National School of Drama. Subsequently, he trained at the Film and Television Institute of India, which was an important step towards realizing his dreams.

At the beginning of his career, Satish Kaushik had to work in small roles and as an assistant director. But he never gave up. He showcased his talent in the 1983 film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’. However, he got real recognition from the role of Calendar in ‘Mr. India’. Subsequently, he played many memorable roles, such as Pappu Pager in ‘Ram Lakhan’, Muthu Swami in ‘Saajan Chale Sasural’, and Jyotishi Mama in ‘Mr & Mrs Khiladi’. All these characters made him the king of comedy.

Satish Kaushik was not only an actor but also a successful director. He directed films like ‘Tere Naam’, which are still alive in the hearts of the audience. He has the distinction of working in more than 100 films in his career and also won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award twice.

Neena Gupta told in an interview that when she was pregnant with Vivian Richards’ child, the pressure of society was very high. She was going to become a mother without marriage, which was a bold decision at that time. In such difficult times, Satish Kaushik supported him. He proposed marriage to Neena Gupta and said that he would give his name to the child.

Satish Kaushik wanted him to give his name to Neena Gupta’s daughter Masaba Gupta. This step was considered extremely courageous at that time. However, Neena Gupta did not accept the offer and decided to raise her daughter alone, thereby setting a strong example to the society.
