There has been a stir on social media as soon as the first look of Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur’s film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ has been released. On April 14, Varun Dhawan shared the first video of the film on his Instagram. The video starts with two children discussing about their respective fathers. During the conversation, they learn that their father’s name is Jas, played by Varun Dhawan.
In the video, Varun is shown romancing with Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in different styles. The kids end up describing the story as a ‘double trouble love story’, indicating that the film will have plenty of comedy and confusion. While sharing this first look, Varun said that this is a fun film by David Dhawan, which will be released in theaters on 22 May 2026.

As soon as the first video of the film was released, the audience started associating it with Govinda’s old film ‘Sandwich’. Many people commenting said that its story seems to be very similar to the same film. Some users even called it a remake of ‘Sandwich’, while some also saw a glimpse of ‘Judwaa 2’ in it. It is clear from such reactions on social media that the film has caught people’s attention even before its release.
Story of the old film ‘Sandwich’
In the 2006 film ‘Sandwich’, Govinda played the character of a common man who leads a double life. Raveena Tandon and Mahima Chaudhary were with him in the film. The story is about a man who, due to circumstances, marries twice and handles both the families separately. He maintains a balance between his two lives for years, but when both families move to the same place, difficulties arise. Although this film was not very successful at the box office, people still remember its story and comedy.

Directed by David Dhawan, this film is Varun Dhawan’s fourth film with him. Even before this, both of them have given many hit comedy films. The film stars Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles.
