Dhurandhar 2 OTT Release Update: The film has remained a topic of discussion among the audience, not only because of its story, but also because of a copyright controversy associated with it. Controversy has arisen over the remix of the song ‘Tirchi Topiwale’ in this film directed by Aditya Dhar.
According to reports, Trimurti Films owner Rajeev Rai has taken legal action against Jio Studios and B62 Studios, alleging that the makers have used the song without permission. Amidst this legal battle, the makers of the film have shared an important update regarding the OTT release.
When will the OTT release of Dhurandhar 2 happen?
During a recent hearing in the Delhi High Court, the production team revealed its streaming plans while responding to the issues raised in the case. The discussion took place when Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited (T-Series) opposed the interim relief sought by the petitioner.
Since the audio rights of this Ranveer Singh film are with Super Cassettes, the makers clarified in the court that the theatrical release of the film has been completed and it can be available on OTT around May 14, 2026.
On which platform will the film be streamed?
The makers revealed that Dhurandhar 2 is likely to premiere on JioHotstar in mid-May. However, the copyright dispute is still unresolved and the case is likely to go to trial. The next hearing of this case has been scheduled for May 8, 2026.
OTT release strategy
Generally, Bollywood movies arrive on OTT platforms within 28 to 56 days of their theatrical release. Interestingly, the first installment of Dhurandhar premiered on OTT almost eight weeks after its theatrical release. Adopting the same strategy, the makers plan to bring Dhurandhar 2 to the digital audience after the completion of its theatrical window.
Due to the OTT announcement and the ongoing legal dispute, the film is constantly in the news and fans are eagerly waiting for the official confirmation.
