Constipation problem and its causes
(Health Corner) :- Constipation is a common health problem, which is often caused by wrong eating habits and unhealthy lifestyle. When the level of Vata increases in the body, the problem of constipation arises. Bad eating habits, overeating, consumption of heavy and difficult-to-digest foods, and lack of fruits and vegetables can lead to constipation. Additionally, emotions such as lack of sleep, stress, anxiety, or grief can also cause constipation. Any kind of blockage or lump in the intestine can also increase this problem.
Constipation relieving fruits and vegetables
Fruit : Citrus, orange, pear, watermelon, melon, peach, pineapple, tangerine, guava, papaya and raspberry, pomegranate.
Vegetables: Potato, cabbage, cauliflower, peas, capsicum, zucchini, tinda, gourd, parmal, carrot, fenugreek, radish, cucumber, spinach, lemon, mustard and bathua. To avoid constipation, it is beneficial to mix 5% black gram flour or bran in wheat flour while making roti.
Tips to get rid of constipation
Before sleeping at night, take half to one teaspoon of Gandharva Haritaki powder with lukewarm water or take half to one teaspoon of Tasty Virechana powder. Take one spoon of Bilwadi powder with lukewarm water or mix two teaspoons of castor oil in lukewarm water or milk and drink it. Taking one spoon of Gulkand with milk in the morning and evening can significantly improve the problem of constipation.
Avoidance to avoid constipation
Fruit : Sapota, banana, apple, grapes, custard apple, litchi.
Vegetables: Arbi, okra, kachalu, yam, brinjal, groundnut, beetroot.
Pulses: Rajma, white chickpeas, whole urad, gram, soybean, cowpea (avoid these especially at night). Also reduce the intake of cheese and ghee.

Constipation patients can be treated through doctor’s advice and training. It is necessary to improve the diet. Consume green and fibrous vegetables as well as liquids like milk, fruit juice, and shikanji. Regular exercise is also beneficial.
