Indian Ambassador told stories of Panchatantra to school children in Austria
Cultural engagement through Panchatantra stories
Vienna: Indian Ambassador to Austria Shambhu Kumaran boosted cultural ties between the two countries by narrating stories of Panchatantra to school children in Vienna.
The Indian Embassy has also published a German translation of the Panchatantra for Austrian children. A video shows how embassy officials tell stories to children, and the children listen eagerly. Shambhu Kumaran also posed for photographs with the children.
“Gurukul Diplomacy. Indian Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran read stories from Panchatantra to school children in Vienna. The Embassy recently published the German translation of Panchatantra for Austrian school children,” the Indian Embassy wrote on social media platform X.
According to a publication issued by the embassy, the German edition introduces young children to the stories of Panchatantra through colorful illustrations by Austrian cartoonist Klaus Pitter.
In early June, the Indian Embassy launched a new video podcast series titled ‘Geschichten aus dem Panchatantra’, in which renowned Austrian podcaster Thomas Brezina narrates Panchatantra stories to children in German.
“Bringing the knowledge of Panchatantra to Austria through digital storytelling. Based on collaboration with Stadt Wien and local schools, the Embassy proudly launches the next chapter of ‘Geschichten aus dem Panchatantra’,” the embassy posted on Twitter.
The launch was attended by more than fifty enthusiastic students from a school in Vienna. Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran read some stories and interacted with the children, who shared their favorite characters and lessons learned from the stories.
In early April, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker paid an official visit to India. During this, he held a meeting with PM Modi, in which enhancing cooperation in areas like innovation, infrastructure and sustainability was discussed.
PM Modi wrote on Twitter, “We had a very good conversation with Chancellor Stocker of Austria. We are happy that he chose India for his visit outside Europe. This reflects his vision and commitment towards India-Austria relations.”
He further said, “We discussed ways to enhance cooperation in innovation, infrastructure and sustainability. We are committed to adding new energy to trade and investment.”
