Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Sutlej’: Diljit Dosanjh’s new film ‘Sutlej’ has been removed from ZEE5 platform just a day after its release. The film was earlier titled ‘Punjab 95’ and was launched on OTT on July 3, but was immediately withdrawn due to controversies.
Reason for ban on film
According to sources, parts of the film could have been misused by anti-India forces, which led to the decision to remove it. This film has been in controversies for many years. Earlier an attempt was made to release it in cinema halls, but the censor board did not approve it. Later it was released on OTT platforms, where certification is not required, but sensitive content is monitored by the government.
This film is the story of the time in Punjab when terrorism was at its peak. It tells the story of a social activist who attempts to uncover the truth about alleged fake encounters and extra-judicial killings. The film depicts the events of Punjab in the 1990s.
ZEE5 official statement
ZEE5 confirmed the removal of the film in an official post on Instagram. The company said, ‘We stand with ‘Sutlej’ and its creative vision. We believe that strong stories inspire and leave a lasting impact. We will continue to promote true and meaningful stories.
ZEE5 further informed that the film will not be available in India until further notice and due process will be followed to bring it back.

Controversies have been arising regarding the film since the beginning. Many organizations and individuals have alleged that the film is misrepresenting the history of Punjab. Some say that it shows the events of the time of terrorism in a one-sided manner, which can harm the country’s image.
