AC servicing frequency

If you use a split or window AC normally, it should be serviced once every 6 months. It is advisable to get the AC cleaned and inspected at least twice a year. Once before summer and second time after the rainy season. Due to this, the cooling of the AC is maintained and its efficiency remains for a long time.

In homes or offices where the AC runs for 8 to 10 hours or more every day, servicing just once a year is not enough. Due to excessive use, dust quickly accumulates in the AC, which puts more pressure on its parts. In such a situation, it is beneficial to get tested once every 3 to 4 months.

AC filter cleaning

Not only servicing, cleaning of AC air filter should also be done regularly. If the AC is used daily in summer, it is advisable to clean the filter every 15 days. Dirty filters reduce air flow, causing the AC to work harder and the electricity bill also increases.

Disadvantages of not getting service done

If the AC is not serviced for a long time, its cooling gradually starts reducing. The machine consumes more electricity and takes longer to cool the room. Sometimes the drainage pipe also gets jammed, causing water to drip or affect the coil and compressor.

Whenever you get your AC serviced, don’t be satisfied with just cleaning the exterior. Also have the technician check the cleanliness of the indoor and outdoor units, the condition of the air filter, cooling coil, drainage pipe, electrical connections and gas. If there is any leakage or other technical problem, get it rectified on time.
