Box office performance of The Odyssey
‘The Odyssey’, which is Christopher Nolan’s second film, has achieved a gross collection of Rs 100 crore in India. This film has become Nolan’s biggest opening film, surpassing the opening collections of films like ‘Dunkirk’, ‘Tenet’, ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Interstellar’.
According to Sacknilk, ‘The Odyssey’ collected a net collection of Rs 6.15 crore from 11,111 shows on its seventh day, taking its total net collection in India to Rs 90.30 crore and gross collection to Rs 107.72 crore. This marks a decline of 5 percent compared to the previous day’s earnings of Rs 6.50 crore, which is the film’s lowest single day collection till date.
Day-wise box office collection in India
According to SACNL, the day-wise net collections in India are as follows: Day 1 (Friday) Rs 17.40 crore, Day 2 (Saturday) Rs 22 crore, Day 3 (Sunday) Rs 21.90 crore, Day 4 (Monday) Rs 8 crore, Day 5 (Tuesday) Rs 8.35 crore and Day 6 (Wednesday) Rs 6.50 crore. On the seventh day, the film earned Rs 6.15 crore, while on the eighth day (Friday) it earned Rs 6.85 crore, taking its total gross collection in India to Rs 115.92 crore.
Global box office performance
According to Box Office Mojo, the film has grossed $322 million globally, of which North America contributed $181 million. According to Deadline, ‘The Odyssey’ is doing well in North America. The film collected $18.05 million (approximately Rs 157 crore) on Wednesday, which is 16 percent less than Tuesday’s $21.4 million (approximately Rs 186 crore). This is Nolan’s second-highest domestic earnings on Wednesday in his career.
‘The Odyssey’ vs. ‘Oppenheimer’
The performance of ‘The Odyssey’ has been much better than Nolan’s previous blockbuster ‘Oppenheimer’. ‘Oppenheimer’ earned $10.6 million (Rs 92 crore) on its first Wednesday, while ‘The Odyssey’ has performed 54 percent better in the same period.
