Mumbai: The political temperature is at its peak amid the civic elections in Maharashtra and its impact is clearly visible on the ruling Mahayuti alliance. During the election campaign, while BJP is attacking Ajit Pawar’s party NCP, Ajit Pawar is also seen in an aggressive attitude. Mutual conflicts and differences are coming to the fore within the Mahayuti. Meanwhile, now BJP has approached the Election Commission against its ally NCP, due to which the tension in the alliance has increased further.

Increasing dispute in Mahayuti

The political tussle between BJP and NCP is clearly visible during the election campaign in Maharashtra. While BJP is adopting an aggressive stance in the election campaign against NCP and Ajit Pawar, NCP is also responding with full force. These mutual fights in the Mahayuti alliance are raising questions on the image of the alliance.

BJP general secretary Rajesh Pandey said that illegal hoardings and flex banners put up by NCP and other parties ahead of the municipal elections in Pune violate the election code of conduct. Due to this, BJP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and has pledged to make the city banner-post free.

BJP’s banner-post free campaign

BJP has given strict instructions to its workers not to put up flex hoardings in the city. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had told party workers on Sunday that unauthorized hoardings and flex-banners spoil the beauty of the city. After this statement, BJP started a campaign in Pune to make the city banner-post free.

Rajesh Pandey said, in view of the municipal elections, NCP and other parties are putting up unauthorized banners and hoardings across the city. This is a violation of the election code of conduct. We have lodged a complaint with the Election Commission in this matter.

Fadnavis targets Ajit Pawar

Earlier on Sunday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis targeted NCP chief and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He said the BJP and NCP had already agreed not to contest the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation elections as allies. Fadnavis said, “Though we had decided to contest elections separately in both the constituencies, the NCP criticized the BJP while campaigning against the ally.

This is contrary to the amicable electoral agreement.” He also clarified that BJP and NCP had already decided that both the parties will not contest against each other in strong constituencies.
