Claudio Echeverri open to January exit as Girona join race for loan deal

Highly rated Argentine youngster Claudio Echeverri could be on the move again in January, with Bayer Leverkusen prepared to sanction his departure amid limited game time. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 18-year-old is open to leaving Leverkusen in search of a new chapter, having not played as initially planned since his arrival in Germany.

Echeverri, who officially joined Manchester City earlier this year before being sent out on loan, was expected to continue his development in Europe with regular minutes. However, his situation at Leverkusen has not unfolded as hoped, prompting discussions over a potential mid-season move. The priority for the attacking midfielder remains consistent playing time at a competitive level.

River Plate, Echeverri’s boyhood club, have already opened talks to bring the teenager back to Argentina on loan. The Argentine giants are keen on offering him a familiar environment and a central role in the squad as he continues his rapid development.

However, River Plate are no longer alone in the race. Girona have now emerged as a serious contender after initiating talks to sign Echeverri on loan from Manchester City.
