Clean sweep of AAP, huge victory in Zilla Parishad and Block Committee elections.

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President Aman Arora thanked the people of Punjab for giving a big mandate to the party in the Zilla Parishad and Block Committee elections. He described this result as a clear endorsement of the governance and pro-people policies of the AAP government.

Addressing journalists during a press conference in Chandigarh, Aman Arora congratulated the people of Punjab for the successful conduct of elections. He said that the polling held on 14th was one of the most peaceful and fair local body elections in recent times, which were conducted smoothly and without any untoward incident.

Arora said that according to the way the results are coming continuously, a one-sided mandate in favor of the Aam Aadmi Party is clearly visible. He said that he congratulates all Punjabis for strengthening democracy and reposing faith in good governance.

He congratulated AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, party leaders, MLAs, candidates and especially the dedicated volunteers. He said that this victory is the result of the functioning of the AAP government in the last few years and the tireless work of the volunteers at the grassroots level.

In the Zilla Parishad elections, out of total 354 zones across Punjab, results of 71 zones were declared during this conference, which showed the strong lead of Aam Aadmi Party. AAP won 60 zones, indicating an overwhelming majority, while Congress won 7 zones. Shiromani Akali Dal won 1 zone, independent candidates won 2 and BJP won 1 zone.

Arora said that about 85% of the declared Zilla Parishad results have come in favor of ‘AAP’, which clearly shows the faith of the people in the party’s policies and leadership.

In the Block Committee elections, out of a total of 2,863 blocks across Punjab, results of 1,275 blocks had been declared till this press conference. AAP won in 867 blocks, which is about 68% of the declared results. Congress won 216 blocks, Shiromani Akali Dal 129, independent candidates 63 and BJP 20 blocks.

Terming it a one-sided victory for AAP, Aman Arora said that though counting from ballot papers is a slow process, the trends clearly show Punjab’s inclination towards the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Punjab government.

He said that the party had gone to the public court regarding the work done by the AAP government during the last four years and the people of Punjab have approved the governance of the government.

Aman Arora thanked the voters for their immense support and congratulated all the winning Zilla Parishad and Block Committee members. He assured that AAP will continue to work with honesty, transparency and dedication to fulfill the expectations of Punjab.
