CM Bhagwant Mann inaugurated Sant Atar Singh Ji Maharaj Hospital, 50 thousand residents of 15 villages will benefit.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today inaugurated Sant Atar Singh Ji Maharaj Hospital in village Cheema. It is noteworthy that this 30-bed state-of-the-art hospital, built at a cost of Rs 11.70 crore, is being started to expand the health services infrastructure as well as to provide quality medical facilities to thousands of people across the region.

The Chief Minister stressed that this hospital will not only benefit about 50 thousand residents of 15 villages, but will also provide affordable and quality treatment to about 35 to 40 thousand population of the surrounding areas.

Chief Minister took stock of the hospital

During his visit, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann took stock of the facilities available in the hospital at the ground level, inquired about the well-being of the patients and also interacted with their families.

Now local treatment possible

Referring to the changing picture of hospitals, he said that earlier due to lack of facilities, patients were mostly referred to Sangrur, Patiala and Ludhiana, but now patients will be able to get treatment locally in this hospital equipped with modern machines and dedicated emergency and mother-child wards.

Medical college work will start soon

During this, the Chief Minister said, “The work of a medical college in the name of Sant Baba Atar Singh will also be started soon and the state government has finalized all the preparations for it. Its objective is to promote medical education in the area and ensure quality health services to the people. The state government will leave no stone unturned to complete this project expeditiously.”

Hospital in honor of Sant Atar Singh Ji

Speaking on the importance of this new hospital, he said, “Today the Community Health Center has been inaugurated in village Cheema, the birthplace of Sant Atar Singh Ji Maharaj. Sant Atar Singh Ji Maharaj made invaluable contribution to education and social service and it is a matter of pride for this center to be named in his honour.” It is noteworthy that this center costing Rs 11.75 crore will have a capacity of 30 beds.

Hospital expansion and facilities

Elaborating on the project, the Chief Minister said, “This center was established in 1975 with 10 beds, which was later expanded to 20 beds. Now considering the needs of the area, it has been expanded to 30 beds.

This center, which will provide emergency and special medical services to about 50 thousand people, will prove to be a boon for the area. Road accident victims and patients with serious illnesses will receive emergency care here and facilities for surgical procedures will also be available.”

Medical Services Available

Referring to the medical services available in the hospital, he said, “Along with ENT and dental services, pediatricians will also be available to treat children. Free mother-child health services, X-ray and blood test facilities will also be provided. Apart from this, treatment for de-addiction will also be available here.”

Chief Minister’s message on de-addiction

Speaking on the ill-effects of drug addiction, the Chief Minister rejected the idea of ​​legalizing drugs, saying, “It is illogical as one drug cannot replace another. Instead, the problem should be solved by channelizing the energy of the youth in a positive direction. The state government has already launched several initiatives to make Punjab drug-free.”

Success of anti-drug campaign

Referring to the positive results of the ongoing anti-drug campaign in the state, he said, “The war against drugs has broken the back of the drug trade in the state. Drug smugglers have been arrested, their properties have been seized and the supply chain has been broken. The ‘AAP’ government will soon honor those brave people who gave important information against drug smugglers.”

Referring to the achievements of the administration, the Chief Minister said, “The ‘AAP’ government has taken important steps in every field, which have brought about major changes. The public tax money is being spent in the interest of the public. This money is reaching back to the people through development, schools, hospitals and roads.

The government has ensured free electricity to 90 percent of the houses, employment to more than 65 thousand youth without corruption, better roads and daily savings of Rs 70 lakh from closed toll plazas and is strengthening the infrastructure." On this occasion, Cabinet Minister and local MLA Aman Arora and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh were also present.
