Dehradun:Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in the Jail Development Board meeting on Thursday, gave instructions to work seriously on the development of one jail, one product. He agreed to set up Kachchi Ghani oil plant in Sitaganj open jail and mushroom cultivation in Sitarganj and Haridwar jails.
The Chief Minister said that regular programs should be organized for the skill development of prisoners lodged in jails. Arrangements for training in different trades should be made in jails through ITI. The state should develop its own separate model for the development of prisons. He gave instructions to increase the use of products made in jails in government offices. Along with this, he said that the officers should check the food arrangements in the jails from time to time so that the quality of food of the prisoners is maintained.

Instructions were given to strengthen medical facilities in jails also.
It was decided in the meeting that laundry machines will be installed in Central Jail Sitarganj, District Jail Almora, Pauri, Tehri, Sub Jail Haldwani and Roorkee. Its establishment in District Jails Dehradun and Haridwar has yielded good results. Instructions were also given to strengthen medical facilities in jails. In the meeting, consent was also given to establish Kachchi Ghani mustard oil plant in the state’s open jail Sitarganj and mushroom farming in Sitarganj and Haridwar jail.
It was informed in the meeting that the establishment of bakery units in District Jail Haridwar, Almora, Central Jail Sitarganj and Sub Jail Haldwani has generated an income of about Rs 12 lakh. Establishment of cow shed in Sitarganj open jail has generated an income of Rs 10 lakh. Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Secretary Home Shailesh Bagoli, ADD Jail Abhinav Kumar, Secretary C Ravi Shankar etc. officers were present in the meeting.
