Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi lauded Odisha star Pramod Bhagat’s courage and dedication after the Paralympic gold-medallist claimed two gold and a silver at the Spanish Para Badminton International 2026 – Level 2, held at Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain.

“My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Odia sports star Pramod Bhagat, who has brought glory to the nation and state by winning two gold and one silver medal at the Spanish Para Badminton International 2026. Through his hard work, he has further enriched Odisha’s identity on the global stage. May he continue such successes in the days ahead and bring even greater renown to India. My endless good wishes for his bright future,” Majhi posted on X with a photograph of Bhagat posing with his medals.

Bhagat won the Men’s Singles SL3 title, overcoming compatriot Nitesh Kumar 21-17, 10-21, 21-18 in the final.

In Mixed Doubles SL3-SU5, Bhagat and Manisha Ramdass rallied brilliantly after dropping the first game against Brazilians Rogerio Junior Xavier de Oliveira and Edwarda De Oliveira Dias to eventually prevail 13-21, 21-12, 21-19 in the title clash.

Bhagat was in line for a triple crown, but he and Sukant Kadam had to settle for silver in Men’s Doubles SL3-SU5 after losing 19-21, 14-21 to fellow Indians Nitesh Kumar and Ruthick Ragupathi.

“This tournament was a true test of patience and resilience. The singles final was very intense, and I had to dig deep after losing the second set. I’m happy with the way I stayed composed in crucial moments. Winning two golds here gives me great confidence moving forward,” Bhagat said.

Kadam brushed off his disappointment in doubles by claiming gold in Men’s Singles SL4 event, beating defeating Korea’s Cho Nadan 21-16, 21-17 in the final.
